Inter-University Undergraduate Chemistry Quiz - 2022
A team from the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science won the Championship in the Inter-University Quiz Competition which was organized by the Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Science (SLAAS). The following students participated in the Chemistry Quiz:

IEEE R10 Outstanding Student Branch Award - 2022
The IEEE Student Branch of the University of Jaffna received the “Special recognition IEEE R10 Outstanding Student Branch Award” at Student, Young Professionals, Women-In-Engineering and Life Member (SYWL) Congress 2022 held on 11-14 of August 2022 in South Korea. The faculty congratulates the students for their outstanding volunteer activities and appreciates Dr. A. Ramanan and Dr. M. Siyamalan for guiding those students in obtaining this achievement at international-level.
Inter-university Debate Championship
The faculty congratulates the team of Chemistry undergraduates who won the championship title in the Inter University Chemistry Debate Competition for the year 2022, organized by Institute of Chemistry, Ceylon. Chemistry Undergraduates from University of Jaffna, University of Peradeniya, University of Sri Jayawardanapura, University of Ruhuna, South Eastern University of Sri Lanka and the College of Chemical Sciences participated in this competition.
Gold Medal for the Student Research Competition
Chinthaka Tennakoon, a chemistry honours student from the Faculty of Science, became first in the island in a research competition and won the Gold Medal. Sri Lankan section of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), UK conducted this island-wide inter-university research competition among final year Chemistry Honours degree students from all Sri Lankan universities. This research work was supervised by Professors K. Vignarooban (Principal Investigator) , K. Velauthamurty and G. Sashikesh under AHEAD-DOR project funded by the World Bank and administered by the Ministry of Higher Education.
Best Student's Research Award
Mr Sivanujan, a student from the Faculty of Science, received the Best Research Award for the work entitled ‘’ Secondary and Super Secondary Structure of Prefusion Conformation of Spike Protein of SARS-CoV-2: A Computational Structure Profiling’’ under Computing and informatics track of the 5th International Research Conference organised by the Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka in July 2021
SLASSCOM National Ingenuity Awards 2021
SLASSCOM National Ingenuity Awards 2021 was awarded to Ms. M. Mayuravaani (Level – 4S Student) and Dr. M. Siyamalan (Senior Lecturer in Computer Science) for being a winner in the Best Innovative Project – University Category in the Northern Province.
60 Second Innovation Contest -2021
The IEEE Student Branch of the University of Jaffna won the “60 Second Innovation Contest -2021” in connection to the IEEE Day Celebrations and will secure an amount of USD 850 from IEEE.
IEEE Boost 2021
The IEEE Student Branch of the University of Jaffna received the following national-level awards at the “IEEE Boost 2021” which was organised by the Student Activities Committee of the IEEE Sri Lanka Section held on 29th of August 2021:
